The UK has recorded 138 coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours. The government has announced that, from 24th July, people must cover their nose and mouth while shopping or face a £100 fine.
Amid security concerns, the government has banned UK telecoms operators from purchasing new Huawei equipment since the end of 2020. Legislation will ensure the complete removal of all Huawei technology from 5G networks by 2027.
Armed police were deployed, and a police helicopter was scrambled after two youths were confronted by a man wielding a shotgun in a field in Market Harborough yesterday.

The White House has claimed that the rest of the world views the US as a “leader” in the coronavirus pandemic, despite the country recording the highest number of cases globally. It is probably true that much of the free world once regarded America as an influential force and a leader in global affairs, but that was before Donald Trump took office. Since then, his relentless stream of outrageous rhetoric and actions has reduced the nation’s standing to that of a distrusted and dangerously comical pariah in the eyes of many around the world.
Today’s example: US hospitals will now be required to bypass the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and send all COVID-19 patient data directly to the Trump administration under a new order starting Wednesday. Surely Trump wouldn’t manipulate the data to create the illusion that he is successfully tackling the pandemic? Would he?
